A couple months ago, I had the pleasure of hosting my first Chef’s Table at Central Social Hall. A gorgeous local gastropub located in Downtown Edmonton and St. Albert.
Chef’s table is essentially a table at the back of a restaurant that is reserved for guests for any special occasion. You may expect a tasting menu prepared and served by either the head chef or the owner of the restaurant.
Disclaimer: this experience was complimentary provided by Central Social Hall, however, my review is 100% unbiased and does not affect my review.
I met with Jesse Kupina, one of the owners, and learnt more about the establishment and backgrounds of each dish being served. This is my second time for the Chef’s Table here; if you want to read my first experience, check it out here.
We started off with Belgian Waffles with house-made strawberry rhubarb compote and chantilly cream. The waffles were crisp on the outside while being light and fluffy on the inside. It wasn’t overly sweet either, which is always a bonus when it comes to breakfast items.
The Cure. Shoestring fries topped with fresh cheese curds, red wine gravy, free run poached eggs, bacon, avocado, and house-made roasted poblano and white cheddar sauce. This is exactly what you need to recover from a night of intoxication. The poutine itself was very savoury and rich. Although it was a tad salty for some, it would make an excellent “cure” for others.
Now this is my favourite menu item. Perogies & Sausage, need I say more? Perogies from Baba’s Own accompanied by crumbled sausage, caramelized onions, and sour cream. Highly recommend this dish on any occasion!
Our next dish was the Albacore Tuna Tataki served with wonton chips. The tuna itself is imported from Portland and farmed ocean wide. A sensational summer appetizer to share with guests.
To wrap everything up were piping hot and fluffy made-to-order doughnuts covered with cinnamon & powdered sugar with a rosemary anglaise dip. This was the ultimate breadwinner at our table. It’s not sickeningly sweet and leaves you wanting more.

Whenever I’m looking for a special celebration, Central Social Hall’s Chef’s Table is by far my first choice. Everything is phenomenal and Jesse ensures that you and your guests are treated like VIPs. If you want to experience a chef’s table yourself, contact Jesse Kupina to get started. If you want a classic delicious brunch, check out Central’s brunch menu and book a table! FYI: their wings are bomb diggity too.
