Wilfred’s: Your New Neighbourhood Diner

Bright, beautiful, modern, and your next go-to cafe and diner.

36028996_10156405871103334_1021446598556647424_nHonestly, I haven’t heard about Wilfred until I read Sharon’s weekly blog posts. Beginning to some pictures of it on Instagram, I just knew I had to check this place out for myself. It was only opened for 4 days before my visit, so I wasn’t expecting too much.

wilfred’s burger $18

I opted for the Wilfred burger since this seemed to be the most popular item on the menu. We were told that the patty would be cooked medium rare, and would be pink in the middle. Needless to say, this was not the case.

I told my server and was offered a new burger, or to have it taken off the bill. Given that the patty itself lacked flavour and the service was extremely slow, I decided to take it off the bill and go somewhere else for redemption.

Service was slow but very friendly. I’m also mindful that was only opened for a couple of days and look forward to general improvements in quality and service.

Stephanie at mshangryfoodie seemed to enjoy her burger though. Read her review for this burger should’ve been!

chili prawns $23

My friend ordered the chili prawns with chickpea puree and cilantro mint salad. I found this dish to be light, delicious, and much better than my burger. I ended up eating more than half of it! It’s the perfect snack for summer — accompanied by their big selection of cocktails. I might be a wee bit biased since I LOVE cilantro and the whole salad was basically made with cilantro.

Given the location and pleasing interior, I’d definitely be coming back at a later time when the kitchen and service picks up. I’ll say give it at least another 2 weeks or so after this blog post. I’m excited to try their breakfast menu and cocktails next!
