What is Foodora and why is it trending on Instagram? Foodora is a food delivery app that originated in Berlin, and just like any other food delivery services (ex. Skip The Dishes, Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.) deliver quality food to your door. The main difference being the method of delivery; foodora focuses on using a bike courier. Now, I was a little skeptical about this… I mean, we are in Edmonton. Our main seasons are winter and construction! But I’ve been told they also have cars and other vehicles to accommodate the weather.
Foodora reached out to me couple weeks ago about a collaboration — and before all of you may think that this is a “sell out” or “biased,” let me just put a little disclaimer…
This is my complete and honest opinion, they did not pay me to write this or told me what I have to say — if they did, I wouldn’t have accepted the offer since that would violate my integrity. The soul purpose of this blog is to give my loyal followers a raw and sincere review, despite the possibility of losing any future collabs. The deal was: put an IG post up about them last week, and upload a blog post within the following week. That being said, I did receive a $30 voucher code to order my food for free.
The reason why everyone is sharing their referral link and getting people to sign up through them is because of foodora’s ‘invite friends’ promo. Anyone who signs up through the referral gets $10 off their first order, and same as the person who shared the link. Easy win-win situation. I’m not a fan of using referral links instead of a codes though. A lot of my friends were confused on how the referral link worked since you’d have to be on your mobile devices before clicking on it, and it doesn’t work on desktops. It was also very awkward asking for peoples’ phone number so I could share the link… And a lot of people declined the offer due to that. It was even worse asking an older generation to check my IG for the link…
FREE delivery until December 31, 2017?! Sounds like a good deal to me! Only downside is that you have to spend a minimum of $15, if not, you’d be required to pay the difference until it reaches $15. Makes sense since some people would be tempted to order $1 for a bottle of water, and it wouldn’t be worth it for them to deliver.
Also, if you think you could spend the minimum of $15 and use the referral voucher to save $10… nice try! You need to spend a minimum of $20 in your cart before using that voucher, so you’d be spending at least $10 — which is pretty good still if you ask me! $20 worth of food for only $10.
I think Freshii was the hardest to reach $20 for me! I had to add random ingredients to my bowl in order to reach the minimum amount. Who knew that’d be a problem for me… ever.
I’ve read the app reviews on Google Play, and although there were a lot of negative ones, I haven’t encountered any issues. Customer service is prompt. They also send you online updates on your order — whether it’s received, prepared, picked up, or out for delivery! I did have a technical error regarding the referral link, but it was nothing uninstalling and reinstalling couldn’t fix.
